Here is my imaginary (though based upon actual experience) thankyou note for an imaginary gift from my aunt. The gift, a maple syrup dispenser shaped like a rooster.
Dear Auntie,
The birthday present you gave me was such an interesting surprise! You must know how much I like breakfast, maple syrup, and farm life.
Such an appropriate gift this is for a Michigander city-slicker turned part-time country boy. This is especially so since we moved out to "the Farm" and got us more than 300 chickens before I left for Bible College (in 1986).
By the way, those chickens had a time chasing me around the outside of the house, while I continually taunted them with "Here chic chic!", the words we used to call them to eat a fresh batch of cracked corn.
